Thank you to Mary for leading a yoga benefit for Jo-Anne MacArthur’s We Animals project Saturday morning, and thank you to those who came. What a lovely way to start a day of peace and friendship.
We are pleased to offer you an amazing way to start your day at Rochester VegFest! Mary Barletta will be leading a very special Yoga Benefit Class from 8:00 to 9:30 on Saturday September 16. All proceeds from your $20 donation will directly benefit Jo-Anne McArthur’s We Animals Project, which documents through photography animals in the human environment. Ten lucky yogis will receive a free Coobie Yoga Bra, generously donated by our friends at Coobie. We hope to see you there!
- When: 8:00 am – 9:30 am Saturday, September 16th
- Where: the Lodge at Martin Luther King Jr. Park
- Tickets: $20
Yoga 4 a Good Hood will have a booth at the VegFest. Y4AGH strives to be a place of healing, peace and acceptance in the community.
The leader, Imani, is a pastor at Reformation Lutheran Church and a yoga teacher. She has noticed that yoga tends not to reach people of color or certain economic backgrounds. It seems out of reach, out of touch, and they see little benefit to their lives. She says,
“I strongly believe that bringing Yoga For A Good Hood into the city of Rochester will begin to address the issues of brokenness, hardship, struggle, abuse and self degradation and people will find peace within instead of always seeking something outside of themselves.“
Their yoga classes are free but they welcome donations.
Thanks to our sponsor Coobie for donating 25 yoga bras!
Our VegFest will have a strong yoga component. Some of the bras will be given out as part of our first yoga class of the day. And you’ll have a shot at some in our huge raffle!
Many thanks to our corporate sponsor Grounded by Yoga Studios & Yoga Teacher Training Center. In addition to a sponsorship to support the VegFest, they are providing two gift certificates for “one month unlimited” for our raffle, and volunteering to help out as well! Thank you, Sandy!
